The Great Gatsby at Brooks Brothers on Madison

Brooks Brothers spring collection features
clothing from the movies The Great Gatsby.

Gentlemen...be the talk of the town in one of these
fabulous blazers!

Men's straw hats from the Gatsby era are
featured on the First Floor of the
346 Madison Avenue Store.

The displays throughout the entire store are so elegant but the
First Floor takes the cake!

These outfits were in the movie.  Brooks Brothers
made all of the men's clothing...not the women's.

More clothing from the movies along with bottles and bottles of
CHAMPAGNE!!

Wentworth Mansion - Charleston, SC - Plantation Rice Flour Pancakes

Here's the recipe for these yummy pancakes!

12 oz. Cake Flour
4 oz. Rice Flour
2 oz. Sugar
2 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Baking Powder
2 tsp. Baking Soda
Sift all of the above together into a bowl.
4 eggs
32 oz. Buttermilk
4 oz. Melted butter
1 T. Vanilla extract
Mix all of these 4 ingredients together and pour into the dry ingredients.  Whisk just until they all combine.
There should be some lumps in the mix.  Heat a griddle to 375 degrees or heat a skillet/frying pan over medium heat.
Pour  a ladle full of mix onto the hot surface, should be about 4 inches in diameter.  Wait for the topside
of the pancakes to bubble, then flip over.
Wait for the underside of the pancake to brown, take off heat and sere immediately.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Makes 2 dozen pancakes

The above recipe is from Executive Chef Marc Collins

The Rice flour is a nod to Charleston's rich history of rice production!

Recently, we were contacted by the Wentworth Mansion as a result of
a recent posting on our blog.
It puts you in the mood for Downton Abbey!!

Lovely Spring Morning

Mr. Fur sits on his famous English Garden bench.  This beautiful
sunny morning is something to behold.

Spring...a time of renewal.  Everything is fresh and new
in the gardens.

This print belongs to the culprit who tore down
our suet bird feeder.  Whoever it was...perhaps a
raccoon, had quite a feast two nights ago.  I must
get a book on animal tracks!  Oh...there's always
the Internet but books are best!

Patriot's Day 2013 in Massachusetts...A day we will never forget.

As we celebrated Patriot's Day, the "shot heard round the world", the
start of the American Revolution, we are reminded of those evil beings
wanting to hurt Americans.  As our Patriots did over 200 years ago,
we must unite and continue to be true to our freedom and cause.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the innocent victims, all who responded
and the families from which they came.

Everyone likes to sit together on the porch where we have been
all celebrating Easter for 30 years!

Mr. Fur investigates a basket delivered by the Easter Bunny!

Platters and other dishes await the arrival of food for the
