October's Party ~ By George Cooper "One of our Mother's favorite poems from her childhood."

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came
The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples
and leaves of every name.

The sunshine spread a carpet
and everything was grand.
Miss Weather led the dancing
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow
The Oaks in crimson dressed
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best and
balanced to their partners and
gaily fluttered by
The sight was like a rainbow
new fallen from the sky

Then in a rustic hollow
at hide and seek they play
The party closed at sundown
and everybody stayed.

Professor Wind played louder
They flew along the ground
and then the party ended
In jolly "hands around"

Start Your October Decorating

Vintage is in!  Look in the attic for things from
your childhood!  Here we found a Halloween treat bag,
witches and owls made of wax along with plastic pumpkins.  Oh, there's
an old witches costume complete with the box!
Now's the time for CANDY CORN!!
In our first Blog, we mentioned our decoupage school chairs.
They make great displays and accommodate a drink or little people!
Our Mother loved all things made of wood.
No matter what the season or holiday, wood
is a lasting choice for holiday decor.
Grandma's Orange Poppy china adds to
this seasonal display.

The 1940s

The 1940s
We are happy to share this special post about the 1940s, a special era in the lives of our parents and so many others.  Truly, the 1940s represented the "greatest generation" when ladies were ladies and men were men.  The music, fashion, automobiles, toys and the latest inventions are shown here.  Enjoy this trip down memory lane...a special time, a special generation!
