A Quote To Live By

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget
that the highest appreciation is not to utter words,
but to live by them."

Thanksgiving Shopping List

When making out your Thanksgiving shopping list this year, make certain
you have Bell's Seasoning on your list.  Bell's Seasoning was started by William G. Bell
in Boston.  The company is now in East Weymouth, Massachusetts.  Since 1867 this
product has always been salt free and 100% natural.  Check out their website  for recipes
and their other products!  www.bellsseasonings.com  We have a collection of these
boxes.  Our Mother loved the packaging which hasn't changed much in years.  The
box on the left cost .78 cents and the one on the right cost .22 cents way back when!

What a difference a week makes!

Looking through the Mulberry tree and onto the pond.  Hints of
snow from the Halloween storm are along the shoreline.
The colors of an Indian Summer are captured in this picture.
Mother Nature is unpredictable.  High temps are predicted for this week.

"November"

"November"

November comes
and November goes
with the last red berries
and the first white snows,
with night coming early
and dawn coming late
and ice in the bucket
and frost by the gate.
The fires burn
and the kettles sing
and earth sinks to rest
until next spring

I found this poem in a classroom when I first started teaching.

Halloween Snow Storm

Halloween was postponed due to the Halloween snow storm!

Lots of tree damage occured!  Trees laden with leaves couldn't withstand the weight of the snow.
Mother Nature hasn't been too kind!  As a matter of fact, she has been down right mean.

The poor mulberry tree sheared off near the top.
Vintage lilacs are bent down amidst the potting bench and clothes line.
