A Quote To Live By

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget
that the highest appreciation is not to utter words,
but to live by them."

We're In A New York State of Mind!

Upon arriving at Grand Central Terminal, we quickly
found our way to The Campbell Apartment for lunch with friends.

Our lunch was delicious!  Mainly appetizers are served
with exotic drinks and great music of a another era.
Back to Brooks Brothers at 346 Madison Avenue!
Here we are with Brooks Brothers' Ambassador, Ricky Bunting!
Our husbands wait as we shop!! They look comfortable, don't they?
On the corner of 54th and Fifth, I buy a bag of roasted chestnuts!
This is a tradition I couldn't live without!  NYC and roasted chestnuts a great combo.
MacKenzie Childs is decked out for the holidays!
Beautiful trees and ornaments await the holiday shoppers!
Beautiful Trump Tower glistens in the sunlight!

a black tie event at the New York Yacht Club.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend and there is no finer place than Cartier!

One of our favorite sounds...
The Salvation Army ringing bells!
Our Father loved the SA and never missed an opportunity to give
and we carry on the tradition!
A fun autumn weekend was had by all!

The parade up Fifth Avenue was a sea of servicemen and veterans!

Thanksgiving Shopping List

When making out your Thanksgiving shopping list this year, make certain
you have Bell's Seasoning on your list.  Bell's Seasoning was started by William G. Bell
in Boston.  The company is now in East Weymouth, Massachusetts.  Since 1867 this
product has always been salt free and 100% natural.  Check out their website  for recipes
and their other products!  We have a collection of these
boxes.  Our Mother loved the packaging which hasn't changed much in years.  The
box on the left cost .78 cents and the one on the right cost .22 cents way back when!

What a difference a week makes!

Looking through the Mulberry tree and onto the pond.  Hints of
snow from the Halloween storm are along the shoreline.
The colors of an Indian Summer are captured in this picture.
Mother Nature is unpredictable.  High temps are predicted for this week.

Do you remember these vintage candles?  These have been carefully taken care of
over the years by being wrapped up and stored in a cool dry place.  To evoke memories
of days past, these are now available at The Vermont Country Store which is celebrating its 65TH year in

November comes
and November goes
with the last red berries
and the first white snows,
with night coming early
and dawn coming late
and ice in the bucket
and frost by the gate.
The fires burn
and the kettles sing
and earth sinks to rest
until next spring

I found this poem in a classroom when I first started teaching.

Halloween Snow Storm

Halloween was postponed due to the Halloween snow storm!

Lots of tree damage occured!  Trees laden with leaves couldn't withstand the weight of the snow.
Mother Nature hasn't been too kind!  As a matter of fact, she has been down right mean.

The poor mulberry tree sheared off near the top.
Vintage lilacs are bent down amidst the potting bench and clothes line.
